The West County Salesian Youth Club (WCSYC) strives to provide a safe place for all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their potential in a positive atmosphere, based upon respect for themselves and others while becoming responsible and caring citizens.

Chief Executive Officer: Steve Alameda

Steve Alameda, a native of Richmond, California, commenced his professional journey in 1969 as an employee of the City of Richmond's Recreation Department, where he worked on various local playgrounds. He attained his high school diploma from Salesian High School in 1971 and went on to further his education by enrolling in various institutions, including Contra Costa College, San Francisco State, University of San Francisco, Cal State Hayward, and Sonoma State, to secure his teaching and administrative credentials. Additionally, he completed the three-year California State Leadership Academy. In 1975, he launched his career in education at Kennedy High School as a teacher, coach, and administrator. In 1998, he was transferred to Pinole Valley High School, where he remained until his retirement in 2012. However, in August 2013, the Board of Directors at the West Contra Costa Salesian Boys and Girls Club approached Steve with an offer to serve as the CEO. Although initially intended as a temporary arrangement, he continues to fulfill this role to this day. As Steve’s career and education brought him much joy, so does this opportunity to continue to serve our community at the Boys and Girls Club!

Director of Operations: David Arriaga

David joined the Boys & Girls Club as a Technology Coordinator in 2009, serving at the Boys & Girls Club of El Sobrante. Having himself been a member of the Salesian Clubhouse, he recognized early on the importance of high-quality youth development professionals. Throughout his tenure, David progressed through various roles, including Bingo Manager and Program Director, where he was responsible for managing day-to-day operations and overseeing fundraising efforts that constituted a third of the annual budget. David was also involved in the merger of the Diablo Valley Boys & Girls Clubs and the Boys & Girls Club of El Sobrante, resulting in the formation of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Contra Costa. In 2018, he joined the West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club team as the interim Program Director, where he fell in love with his old Clubhouse, which still had his handprint on the wall from over 20 years prior. During his first two years, he played a key role in renovating multiple rooms into functional program spaces for members. In 2020, David was appointed as the Director of Operations, where he is responsible for overseeing club operations and programs, with a focus on program development and implementation. In addition to his operational responsibilities, he also actively participates in numerous board committees and events to support fundraising and marketing efforts that ensure the sustainability of the organization. David has a strong commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs movement and aspires to continue his career within the organization. His ultimate goal is to impart his expertise and inspire future youth professionals who share his passion for creating a safe and positive environment for all youth.

Athletic Director: Jon Robles

Jon Robles is the Athletic Director at the West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club, where he has been coaching and inspiring the youth in our community for over 20 years. With his wealth of experience, he has been instrumental in organizing and leading the club's athletic activities, with a focus on developing key fundamental and mental skills in sports and in life. Jon is dedicated to providing the our members with a high-quality, innovative program that will help them reach their maximum potential. He strongly emphasizes the importance of academic achievement, teamwork, goal-setting, integrity, character, leadership, a positive work ethic, and a positive attitude. Jon is driven by a vision to empower the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. He is passionate about helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in life. With Jon's leadership and expertise, he is poised to make a positive impact on the youth in the West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club community for years to come.

Program Aide: Jolene Smith

Jolene Smith, commonly referred to as Mrs. J, is currently serving in a support role at the West Contra Costa Boys and Girls Club. In this capacity, she offers assistance to staff, students, and parents alike. She is deeply invested in the community and has a strong desire to bring individuals together for the betterment of the youth. She has a background in both health administration and psychology, holding a Bachelor's degree in the former and a Master's degree in the latter. Her passion for the development of children through creativity led her to become involved in the club as a parent. She is now proud to have initiated the Entrepreneur Program, which provides children and parents with the tools and resources needed to start their own businesses. Together with her colleagues, she is committed to ensuring that the club remains fresh, innovative, and welcoming. Their goal is to provide life-changing skills and create an exciting environment that encourages growth and development for all who participate.

Facility Maintenance Manager: Kelvin McMiller

Kelvin McMiller is a highly skilled and dedicated facility maintenance manager at the West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club. With a passion for ensuring that the club's facilities are clean, safe, and functional, Kelvin goes above and beyond to make sure that everything runs smoothly. He takes pride in maintaining the club to the highest standards, and his attention to detail is unmatched. In his role as facility maintenance manager, Kelvin oversees all aspects of building maintenance and repair, ensuring that the club's facilities are well-maintained and in good condition. He is responsible for ensuring that the club is clean and safe, and that all equipment and systems are operating properly. He also works closely with other staff to ensure that the club's programs and activities can be carried out effectively. Kelvin's dedication to his work is evident in his commitment to the success of the club. He is always available to help, and goes out of his way to ensure that the club's members have the best possible experience. Whether it's fixing a broken piece of equipment, or simply ensuring that the facilities are spotless, Kelvin always puts the needs of the club and its members first. Beyond his role as facility maintenance manager, Kelvin is also a valuable member of the community. He is deeply committed to giving back, and is always looking for ways to support the club and its mission. Kelvin is a valuable member of the team, and a true asset to the community.

Staff Member: Niklas Datta

Niklas Datta is passionate about creating a positive environment for children and young adults. He has experience working with after-school programs and volunteering with the City of Richmond during their recreational events. As a dedicated staff member of the Boys and Girls Club, Niklas is committed to helping its members reach their full potential through fun and educational activities. With a background in kinesiology and a passion for baseball, Niklas has a deep understanding of the importance of physical activity and sports in shaping the lives of young people. He is dedicated to exploring the many ways in which exercise, physical activity, and sports can impact physical and mental well-being. In his free time, Niklas stays active through a variety of sports and fitness activities, constantly learning and growing. He is confident in his ability to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all members of the Boys and Girls Club.
